so the first official change in reference to yesterday's post.
weekly themes
themes will just be fun weekly topics to make a short post on. we'll try to have topics that can include pics because that's always fun. topics will be philobate related but not as serious as the discussion topics. hopefully they will add a little more fun and activity to the community, remind people of philobate and help attract members. if the theme idea goes over well, it will become the responsibility of mods and/or maintainers once we have that all set up.

this weeks theme
to start things off: movies that make you think.

if you have theme suggestions that be awesome!

Good taste in movies. Full Metal Jacket is my all time favorite movie. The sniper scene is insane. I've also seen; eyes wide shut, American History X, Se7en, Virgin Suicides (really trippy), fear and loathing in Las Vegas (one of the few movies I have laughed out loud to), The talented Mr. Ripley, fight club (another favorite), The Shining, the Matrix, and Cruel Intentions.

Good movie selections, and I can't believe magicflyingpig has not seen ANY.

I would add; We were soldiers, Shawshank Redemption, UV571, Natural Born Killers, Schindler's List, What Dreams May Come, The Bourne Identity, Enemy at the Gates, the Inner Circle, the Butterfly Effect, the Big Ride, Death to Smoochy, Kajax, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Boondock Saints, Snatch, Ghost in the Shell, the Game and Gothica.

Oh and Children of the Corn blows dogs.

I may be weird, but Forrest Gump makes me think. It shows that you do not have to be smart to be succesful and get everything you want out of life. All anybody has to do is be them self and be patient. Life will take you where you want to go.

Waking Life is also a thinking movie. It's great because there are only two or three things that each person will agree with. It covers all kinds of philosophy and which parts you enjoy depend entirely on your outlook on life.

American Beauty is amazing as well. Apparrently I have a very different take on its meaning though. The meaning of that movie could be an entire topic of discussion. I won't explain my take on it just in case somebody has not seen it, but if it comes up, that would be a very fun "philobate."

i haven't seen American Beauty, so thanks for not sharing too much now, but if you want to make a new post and just put the details on an lj cut, that'd be cool.
